In celebration of its annual Whiskey Harvest, Frey Ranch Distillery introduces the third limited-edition expression in its ultra-premium "Harvester Series." Third Harvest is a one-of-a-kind, ultra-premium whiskey that highlights the sustainable, slow-grown grains cultivated and harvested exclusively on the Frey Ranch farm in Northern Nevada. It is also the first Frey Ranch release in the brand's history to include triticale. The release coincides with the distillery's annual Whiskey Harvest, when Co-Founder and Whiskey Farmer Colby Frey harvests the corn, wheat, barley, rye, and oats that go into every Frey Ranch whiskey.

For this release, Colby and his wife Ashley again brought in Master Blender Nancy Fraley. Nancy worked alongside Frey Ranch Master Distiller Russell Wedlake to taste through hundreds of samples to select barrels from Frey Ranch's aging inventory at their peak and were drawn to the complexity that triticale added to the final blend. First Harvest centered on rye whiskey and Second Harvest put the spotlight on wheat. Third Harvest introduces triticale, a rare hybrid of wheat (Triticum) and rye (Secale) that Colby plants each winter alongside his wheat, rye, and barley crops. Plant breeders first developed triticale in the 1800s to combine the yield and grain quality of wheat with the hardiness and drought tolerance of rye. In whiskey, it brings the spicy, peppery notes of rye together with the soft, sweet, bready character of wheat.

With barrels aged between five and eight years, the blend bill is 36.14% corn, 27.92% rye, 26.66% triticale, 4.80% malted barley, and 4.48% wheat. It's bottled at 61.70% ABV (123.4 proof) and is designed to be enjoyed neat or on the rocks. On the nose, it gives orange marmalade and sliced orange jelly candy. The palate brings hints of fresh pear, marmalade, honey, and teddy grahams, and the finish recalls graham crackers and caramelized brown sugar.

"Be good to the land and the land will be good to you" is the Frey family motto, embossed on the bottom of every bottle of Frey Ranch Whiskey.
